Step into the sweet memories of time with a half-day tour at Hualien Guangfu Sugar Factory

During my trip to Hualien, I visited a place that blends history, culture, and childhood flavors—the Hualien Guangfu Sugar Factory. This site is not only a shared memory for the older generation of Hualien residents but also a spot where you can savor the essence of time.

Built during the Japanese colonial period, the sugar factory was once an important sugar production center in eastern Taiwan. The park preserves numerous Japanese-style wooden houses and old railways, making a stroll through the area feel like a journey through time. What captivated me the most was the small shop selling retro-style popsicles. Buying their signature pineapple popsicle and sitting under the shade of the trees in the factory grounds, listening to the breeze and smelling the sweet scent of sugar, is the simplest form of happiness.

In addition to the ice treats, the park also features a museum showcasing the sugar production process and machinery from the past, giving me a deeper understanding of Taiwan's sugar industry history. This place is also perfect for family outings or photo opportunities, as every snapshot exudes a nostalgic vibe.

If you're looking for a place to slow down during your travels, the Hualien Guangfu Sugar Factory is definitely worth a visit!
