Mr. Zhan Tianyou is the "Father of Chinese Railways", a famous patriotic railway engineer in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China. He was born and raised in Xiguan, Guangzhou. The former residence retains the ancient blue bricks, wooden doors and Manchu windows, and is an authentic Xiguan mansion. A simulated Badaling "human"-shaped railway is built in the garden outside the museum to commemorate Zhan Tianyou's masterpiece, the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway.
