Check in at the Zhan Tianyou Memorial Hall in Guangzhou

#GreaterBayAreaFun

The Zhan Tianyou Former Residence Memorial Hall is located at No. 42, Yacai Lane, Shierfuxi Street, Enning Road, Liwan District, Guangzhou (near Litchi Bay and Shangxiajiu). It occupies a traditional Xiguan mansion with its preserved blue bricks, wooden doors, and Manchurian windows. Zhan Tianyou is considered the father of Chinese railways. The memorial hall features miniature "human" railways and the Badaling Great Wall, commemorating the "Father of Chinese Railways"—the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway—his masterpiece.

Zhan Tianyou's Former Residence is designed in the style of a typical residential building from the late Qing Dynasty and early Republican period. Given the modest circumstances of Zhan Tianyou's birth, the restoration emphasizes the simplicity and tranquility of an ordinary Xiguan household. The museum houses a large collection of Zhan Tianyou's relics, including Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway rails, copper bells used on the railway, drawing instruments used during his lifetime, and calligraphy stickers. It's a great place to learn about the history of Chinese railways and Zhan Tianyou's life. Railway enthusiasts should definitely check it out here.
