The Majestic Dafo Temple in the Bustling City of Guangzhou

Located on the busy and lively Beijing Road in Guangzhou, this Buddhist temple stands as one of the most popular tourist attractions. Dafo Temple was originally built during the Southern Han Dynasty when Emperor Gaozu, a devout Buddhist and lover of palace architecture, constructed seven temples in Guangzhou to correspond with the twenty-eight constellations in the sky. These temples were collectively known as the 'Southern Han Twenty-Eight Temples.' The present Dafo Temple was formerly known as Xinzang Temple, one of the original twenty-eight temples, which gradually fell into disrepair over time.
Although we are not Buddhists, we have been deeply impressed by its architectural design and layout from cultural, historical, and philosophical perspectives over the years. The temple grounds are vast, offering plenty of space to explore. If you visit at night, the temple is beautifully illuminated, presenting a different, more splendid view that is perfect for photography.
