Jordan Chan's impressive performance as Xian Yuqiang lights up the Grand Theatre.

As everyone knows, "I Am What I Am" was a phenomenal IP a few years ago. The musical version toured last year and is back on the road this year, with the first stop still in Guangzhou (the next stop is Shanghai). Jordan Chan's portrayal of Xian Yuqiang was quite remarkable. I watched the final performance, and the theater was packed with a diverse audience of all ages and nationalities, creating a strong sense of cultural representation.

The plot closely resembles the movie version, but as a stage production, the intensity and seamlessness naturally differ. However, with tempered expectations, it's still a captivating show.
✅️ Excellent vocals throughout
✅️ Lion dance techniques are present but lack power
✅️ Relaxed performance style overall (could be seen as positive or negative)
✅️ Stage design is simple yet commendable
✅️ Recommended for first-time viewers, but a second viewing isn't necessary

It's worth noting that fan culture is truly pervasive. Nowadays, no matter what show you watch, as long as there are well-known actors involved, fan groups are bound to clash. Having to research the cast before watching a show is quite tiring!
