Guangxiao Temple

Located in the heart of downtown Guangzhou, Guangxiao Temple is a quiet place different from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is a temple built during the Southern Dynasties and has a long history of over 1,500 years. When you pass through the entrance, you are greeted by tall Buddhist temples and old trees, which make you feel as if time is passing slowly. The most impressive thing is the ‘Balgye-dae’ where the Sixth Patriarch Huineng shaved his head and the Sixth Patriarch Hall, which commemorates his sermons. The halls, which are in harmony with the bamboo forest, create a neat and solemn atmosphere. You can feel the unique atmosphere of an old temple, and it feels more like a place for training than a tourist attraction. There are quite a few locals and Buddhists, so you can feel the atmosphere of a real temple. It is a great place to take a break from the city and calm your mind. I definitely want to visit again when I go to Guangzhou.
