Chen Clan Ancestral Hall

Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, also known simply as "Chen Family House," is located in Guangzhou and is one of the most exquisite and well-preserved examples of traditional Lingnan architecture in China. Built between 1888 and 1894, it was funded by 72 Chen families from Guangdong Province to serve as a residence and study hall for preparing candidates for imperial examinations during the Qing Dynasty. Over time, it was repurposed as an industrial college and later a secondary school before being transformed into the Guangdong Folk Art Museum in 1959. It is now protected as a national heritage site.

To visit, take the metro to Chen Clan Academy Station (Line 1 or 8), and exit via D/E. The hall is right there.
