Guangzhou is one of the largest cities in China, where ancient traditions coexist with ultra-modern architecture. It's easy to get lost among the hundreds of attractions, so I've put together an honest guide: what's truly worth your time and what can safely be skipped.
## ✅ RECOMMENDED VISIT
**Dafo Temple**
A stunning Buddhist temple, especially beautiful in the evening when the lights are on. This place creates a magical atmosphere and is perfect for leisurely strolls and photos. Unlike the hyped-up tourist temples, it has preserved its authentic atmosphere.
**Tianhe District**
The heart of modern Guangzhou. Here you'll find shopping malls and a unique metropolitan atmosphere. I especially recommend the underground shopping mall, styled like old Shanghai at night—a place with an incredible retro vibe, neon signs, and vintage decor dating back to the 1930s. Ideal for evening strolls and atmospheric photos.
**Dongshankou**
This area has retained the charm of old Guangzhou, with its colonial architecture and cozy streets. It's a wonderful place for leisurely strolls and learning about the city's history. You can spend several hours here, hopping from one interesting location to the next.
**Lychee Bay**
An ideal place to immerse yourself in Guangzhou's traditional culture. You can spend an entire day hopping from one interesting location to another—traditional houses, canal boats, and authentic teahouses. The atmosphere of old China in its purest form.
**Canton Tower Bubble (Cable Car)**
If you want to see the city panorama from above, choose the Canton Tower Bubble—an attraction where you ride along the edge of the tower with stunning views. The price also includes access to the tower itself, making it a more affordable and exciting option than just the observation deck.
**Huacheng Square**
A modern symbol of Guangzhou, surrounded by impressive skyscrapers. A great spot for evening strolls and photo ops against the backdrop of modern architecture. The square offers magnificent views of the cityscape.
