Just spent the day in Guangzhou checking out some underrated gems 🚀 — Beijing Street, epic Guangbai Cultural Square, and the amazing Dafo Temple that’s tucked right into the action!
Top Spots to Visit:
1. Beijing Street Guangbai Cultural Square
Find this lively spot at Guangbai Department Store, Xihu Road, Yuexiu District (just 50 meters north of Big Buddha Ancient Temple). It’s perfect for people-watching, bustling markets, and neon city vibes. The plaza is open all day, so swing by whenever the mood hits!
2. Dafo (Big Buddha) Temple
Don’t miss this ancient beauty next to Beijing Street! Peaceful, atmospheric, and full of traditional Southern Chinese charm — you’re gonna love soaking up the calm before diving back into the busy city. It’s open 8am–5pm.
My Pro Tip 🚩
Check out Dafo Temple early in the morning for fewer crowds and the freshest incense vibes. Beijing Street gets buzzy by late afternoon, so save your shopping and strolling for then.
Getting Around:
Hop on the Guangzhou Metro (Line 2 or Line 6) and get off at Beijing Lu Station — super convenient and cheap. Walking between these spots is super easy, so skip the taxi.
Food to Try:
Grab street snacks from vendors on Beijing Street — look for spicy grilled squid and honey-glazed pastries 🍢🍰. Or pop into a noodle shop for legit wonton noodles.
Travel Hacks:
Bring a little cash (many stalls prefer it versus mobile payments). Weather is hot and humid, so pack light & drink lots of water!
