Qianming Temple is located on the banks of the Nanming River on Yangming Road in Nanming District, Guiyang, next to the landmark Jiaxiu Square. According to the "Guiyang Prefecture Annals", "Qianming Temple was built in the late Ming Dynasty on Shuangtudi Street in the southwest corner of the prefecture city, and was rebuilt in the 36th year of Qianlong." It is the main Buddhist activity site in Guiyang, and the Buddhist Association of Guizhou Province and the Buddhist Association of Guiyang City are both located in the temple.
Qianming Temple faces south, with a symmetrical central axis. The entrance has a mountain gate screen wall, and inside there are the Mahavira Hall, the Great Compassion Pavilion, the Sutra Library, the Guest Hall, the Dining Hall, and other buildings, covering an area of more than 2,000 square meters. The incense is very strong, and there are many believers.
The most worth seeing is the sandalwood structure of the Guanyin Hall, which houses a 2.88-meter-high statue of the Thousand-Handed Guanyin, with Shancai and Longnu standing on both sides. The entire hall is made of sandalwood, which is very rare and precious.
The temple is surrounded by tall buildings, and modern architecture blends harmoniously with the century-old ancient buildings. Qianming Temple is hidden among the skyscrapers, providing a peaceful haven for those who are busy with their livelihoods. The ancient temple is located in the bustling Nanming River area, surrounded by popular attractions such as the Guizhou National Museum, Jiaxiu Tower, Dannanmen Ruins, and Chengnan Scenic Spot, as well as green spaces such as Zhucheng Square, Riverside Park, and Jiaxiu Square. It is also not far from Qianming Mountain, the Medicinal Botanical Garden, the Forest Park, and the Love Museum. The surrounding streets are full of Guizhou delicacies, making it a great place for Guiyang people to relax and vacation.
