My favorite city so far, the kids had so much fun they didn’t want to go home

Spent 6 days and 5 nights in Guizhou during National Day with the kids 🏞️, and it truly lives up to its reputation as Lonely Planet’s Best Travel Destination of the Year! This time, I specially designed a kid-friendly itinerary that lets you enjoy stunning landscapes and fun parent-child activities. The kids were so happy they didn’t want to leave～

🚗 Kid-friendly itinerary:
Day 1: Guiyang → Huangguoshu Waterfall
📍Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area (Zhenning Buyei and Miao Autonomous County, Anshun City, Guizhou Province)
Asia’s largest waterfall is a must-see with kids! It’s recommended to buy the scenic area shuttle bus ticket so the kids won’t get too tired walking. Remember to prepare raincoats for the kids because you’ll get wet from the mist near the waterfall 💦

Day 2: Libo Xiaoqikong → Rice Field Fish Catching Experience
📍Xiaoqikong Scenic Area (Libo County, Qiannan Buyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture)
Known as the "Green Gem on the Earth’s Belt," it’s a perfect place for kids to play in the water! In the afternoon, enjoy a fish-catching activity in the rice fields (Chaoyang Town, Libo County). The kids wear bamboo hats and roll up their pants to happily splash around in the fields 🐟

Day 3: Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village
📍Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village (Leishan County, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture)
Experience the most authentic Miao culture. Rent a Miao costume for the kids to take super cute photos. At night, watch thousands of lights turn on, like stars falling to earth 🌌

Day 4: Zhijin Cave → Pingtang Sky Eye
📍Zhijin Cave (Zhijin County, Bijie City)
Take the kids on an adventure through this underground palace formed over billions of years. The unique stalactites will definitely amaze the children! In the afternoon, head to the Pingtang Sky Eye Scenic Area (Pingtang County, Qiannan Buyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture) to let the kids learn about astronomy 🔭

Day 5: Zhenyuan Ancient Town
📍Zhenyuan Ancient Town (Zhenyuan County, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture)
Stroll along the Wuyang River in this thousand-year-old town and take a boat ride to experience the charm of the "Oriental Venice." Let the kids try the glutinous rice cakes from the old street, soft, sticky, and super delicious 😋

Day 6: Guiyang → Return
On the last day, rest a bit in Guiyang. It’s recommended to take the kids to Qianling Park to see the monkeys, but remember not to let the kids hold food in their hands 🐒

🍜 Guizhou Food Recommendations:
✅ Sour Soup Fish (a great appetizer especially for kids)
✅ Siwawa (various vegetable wraps, nutritious and delicious)
✅ Glutinous Rice (can be served with sausage or salted egg yolk)
✅ Fried Potatoes (kids’ favorite snack)

🎒 Parent-child travel tips:
1. Guizhou is rainy, remember to prepare rain gear and non-slip shoes for the kids
2. Big temperature differences in scenic areas, bring light jackets
3. Bring common medicines like cold medicine and stomach medicine
4. Pack several sets of clothes for changing, playing in water can get clothes wet
5. Buy tickets online in advance for popular attractions to save time
