| Nirmal Van House.
The project is located near Surat and the land offers a beautiful panoramic view of the river and mango trees on the opposite bank. The project aimed to create a villa in which all blocks had specific characteristics without interfering with each other; therefore, a central living, dining and sleeping space was designed to maximize the view, allowing everyone to enjoy the magnificent views of the river and the internal courtyard. Spatial sequencing, view framing and lighting control strategies create a variety of different atmospheres and experiences throughout the home.
The house is never revealed all at once. The circulation is planned in such a way that the space slowly unfolds to the visitor throughout the experience and spatial journey of the house. From the small pavilion at the entrance to the spacious water courtyard at the entrance, the visitor's attention is focused on a calm and tranquil space centered around trees and the Nandi.
The main living and dining rooms are designed as lightweight glass boxes that sit within a larger garden room and blend in with the exterior space. Meanwhile, the bedroom area is solid with a private terrace on one side and river views on the other. The pool is positioned to enjoy the most spectacular sunset and river views, giving it a sense of infinity.
Minimal basic materials are mixed with furniture and artwork to keep the house casual. The materials used in the house are a mix of rustic natural finishes such as rough stone walls, natural teak wood, finished textured lime walls and Indian stone on the floors. Finding joy in designing spaces for people is more than just creating beautiful designs. It requires honesty, hard work, and consideration of how the designed space interacts with its environment.
