[Korea] Gyeongju Gyochon Village

#AbsolutelyFreeTrip

Gyeongju Gyochon Village, located right next to the historical heritage area and the center of historical tourism in Gyeongju, is a place where traditional tiled roof houses are maintained, centered around Gyodong Beopju and Choi Family Old House, which are designated as cultural assets, and is attracting attention as Gyeongju's Hanok Village.

Cafes and restaurants are also designed not to spoil the scenery.

This is also where Korea's first national university, the National University of Korean Studies, was built in 682 (the second year of the Shilla Sinmun King's reign).

The old house next to it is the Gyeongju Gyodong Choi Family Old House (Important Folk Cultural Property No. 27).
It was built around 1700 and has been around for over 300 years.
Compared to its reputation as the home of a wealthy Joseon dynasty king, the low main gate gives the impression of a simple family style.
Following the family motto of "Let no one starve to death within 100 ri," they distributed 100 koku of rice to poor neighbors during famines and in years of famine, a Korean version of "noblesse oblige."

The quaint stone-walled road was lined with lovely hanok houses, making it seem like a filming location for a Korean drama☆
