Tongling City Museum, located on the east bank of Tongling West Lake Wetland Park, is now a national third-level museum with a four- story main building , an exhibition area of 5,000 square meters, and a cultural relics warehouse of 2,000 square meters. It currently has more than 5,000 collections , including 15 first-level collections , 27 second-level collections, and 498 third-level collections .
The Tongling Museum was designed by the Architectural Design Institute of South China University of Technology. The designers captured the typical elements of bronze culture. The main building of the museum fully reflects the characteristics of bronze culture, combining square and round shapes, perfectly interpreting the relationship between the " mold " and " vessel " in ancient Chinese bronze smelting . The exterior of the building was built based on the Spring and Autumn Animal Ear and Bird Pattern Mirror, a bronze ware unearthed in Tongling .
The Tongling Museum currently has five exhibitions open , including the basic display "The Bronze Essence of the Bronze Capital of Eternal Good Fortune", the ceramic exhibition "The Style of Pottery and the Charm of Porcelain", the folk collection exhibition, the Bronze Handicrafts Exhibition of the Bronze Capital, and the special exhibition of Tongyang History and Culture. With rich historical relics, new display methods, and advanced scientific and technological means, it fully and vividly displays Tongling's long history of bronze civilization, splendid culture, and gorgeous treasures.
