One of the must-visit spots during a trip to Gyeongju is the Gyeongju National Museum. While it's known for its Silla artifacts, this time, there was a special celadon exhibition that made it even more worthwhile to stop by.
The moment I stepped into the exhibition hall, I was captivated by the stunning hues of Goryeo celadon. 📿 The soft jade-green glow and the intricate patterns carved into the pieces were simply breathtaking. Seeing these masterpieces in person, which I had only encountered in textbooks before, left me in awe. It felt as if the craftsmanship and spirit of artisans from centuries ago were still alive within these small ceramic works.
Particularly charming were the celadon ornaments shaped like peaches or animals, which children would surely adore, while the finely detailed carvings were equally moving for adults. Experiencing the aesthetic of Goryeo, distinct from the Silla relics of Gyeongju, added a new dimension to the trip. 🌿
While exploring outdoor heritage sites like Bulguksa Temple and Daereungwon Tombs in Gyeongju is wonderful, including a museum visit in your itinerary makes the trip even more fulfilling. Plus, it's a great way to enjoy your time comfortably indoors, whether in the heat of summer or the chill of winter. Highly recommended! 🙌
