Thanks to Aomori Prefecture's locally produced rice and yeast, along with the high-quality water from the Hachinohe and Kanizawa regions, these sakes are the perfect ingredients for brewing local sake. This has made the sake of Mutsu Otokoyama and Hasen famous, earning them the reputation of being the world's finest sake brewed by Aomori sake breweries.

Hachinohe Sake Brewery was founded in 1740. The first brewer, Shozaburo Komai, left Omi Province for Mutsu Province to pursue his brewing career, and the brewery has been passed down through generations since then. Built during the Taisho era, the brewery, comprised of a red brick brewery, an earthenware warehouse, and a wooden shop and main building, has been designated a "National Tangible Cultural Property" and a "Scenic Significance of Hachinohe City."

The brewery is open for tours. Visitors can observe the brewing process and get a close-up glimpse into the history of Hachinohe Sake Brewery and the culture of Japanese sake. They can also try tastings at the brewery counter.
