Advance Preparation
- Ticket Reservations: Follow the "Hainan Provincial Museum" WeChat official account, click "Visit Reservation" on the menu bar to make a real-name reservation. The daily limit is 16,000 people, so plan your trip and make a reservation in advance.
- Opening Hours: Open from 9:00–17:00, Tuesday to Sunday. Reservations for same-day visits and entry close at 16:30. Closed on Mondays (open on public holidays).
- Other Items: You can bring a notebook for stamping. Free storage service is available for large items.
Transportation
- By Car: The museum has a free parking lot, making it convenient to drive there.
- Public Transportation: You can take bus routes 1, 2, 3, and many other lines to get near the museum.

- History Museum
- First Floor (Exhibition Halls 10–13): "Voyages Across the South China Sea—Exhibition of Maritime Civilizations of the South China Sea," showcasing artifacts salvaged from the Huaguang Reef I shipwreck, a 360-degree circular screen playing educational films, and restored scenes of the shipwreck site.
- Second Floor (Exhibition Halls 14–16): "Beyond the Frontier—Hainan History Exhibition," showcasing artifacts in chronological order, displaying the historical development of Hainan Island from prehistoric times 600,000 years ago to the Republican era.
- Third Floor (Exhibition Halls 17–19): "Between Gods and Mortals—Hainan Customs Exhibition," showcasing various artifacts and historical materials, presenting the local culture of Hainan Island, immigrant culture, life on the water, and life on land.
- Art Museum
- First Floor (Exhibition Hall 1): "Treasures of Tianya—Hainan Provincial Museum Collection Exhibition," featuring precious collections, including the museum's most treasured artifacts.
- Second Floor (Exhibition Halls 3–4): Exhibition Hall 3 is "Queen of Wood—Hainan Huanghuali Exhibition," and Exhibition Hall 4 is "King of Fragrance—Hainan Agarwood Exhibition," introducing the history, craftsmanship, and finished products of huanghuali and agarwood.
- Third Floor (Exhibition Halls 6–9): Exhibition Hall 6, "Qiong Workshop," showcases traditional Hainan handicrafts; Exhibition Hall 7, "Qiong Food Street," presents Hainan's food culture, with traditional food makers preparing food on-site; Exhibition Hall 8, "Qiongya Village," showcases the intangible cultural heritage of Hainan's ethnic minorities; and Exhibition Hall 9, "Qiong Opera Stage," showcases Qiongju opera and other Qiongzhou performing arts.
Guided Tour Service
- Online: The WeChat official account offers free guided tours in Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, and Russian, which you can listen to while visiting.
- Offline: Guided tours of temporary exhibitions are available daily at 10:00, and guided tours of the main exhibitions are available at 10:30 and 15:00.
