Walking through Haikou’s Qilou Old Street, Shangnantang immediately catches your eye with its Nanyang retro vibe. Perfect for photos and a relaxing tea break. We ordered the “Double Tea Set” (双人饮), which is a great deal for two people, and tried some of their signature drinks and desserts.

For drinks, we had the Zegu Sparkling Cold Brew (鹧鸪气泡冷萃, 39 RMB) and Amber Hidden Osmanthus Tea (琥珀隐桂香, 32 RMB). Both were beautifully presented and refreshing, with delicate flavors that feel authentically Hainanese but with a modern café twist. For dessert, the Zegu Coconut Tea Jelly (鹧鸪椰澜茶冻) and Fig Pandan Toast (无花果斑斓吐司, 39 RMB) were standout treats. Light, fragrant, and perfect to pair with the tea.

The café provides thoughtful touches like simple photo services, and if you check in or collect the store on your app, you even get a free envelope of tea. The staff were friendly and responsive, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable.

Overall, Shangnantang is a must-visit for tea lovers in Haikou. Between the retro aesthetic, high-quality zegu tea drinks, and Instagram-ready desserts, it’s a perfect spot to slow down, sip, and capture a little piece of local culture.
