Former British Consulate

The former British Consulate, located near the former Hakodate Ward Public Hall, is also a wonderful building. It's not exactly spacious inside, but the small space is packed with documents and history that will stay with you forever.

There's also a bronze statue of Perry in front of the former British Consulate (across the road), and Mount Hakodate towers behind it, so you can enjoy both the statue and the consulate together.

As of October, Hakodate felt cold to me, but the autumn leaves were beautiful and I'm glad I went.
