[Hokkaido] View of the special historic site, Goryokaku, from above 👀

Goryokaku is a special historic site that looks like a star when seen from above.

It is said that Goryokaku was modeled after European fortified cities.
Goryokaku was completed surrounded by water and based on these fortified cities.

It was the site of the Battle of Hakodate at the end of the Edo period.
It is also known as the place where Hijikata Toshizo, vice-captain of the Shinsengumi, died, and a statue of him has been erected in Goryokaku Tower.

Goryokaku, where Hijikata lost his life, has become a park and a place of relaxation for local citizens.

Goryokaku Tower, where you can see Goryokaku, a special historic site, offers a 360° panoramic view of Hakodate city.

If the weather is good, you can clearly see the observation deck of Mt. Hakodate 👀
