Hakodate Summer Adventure Guide

Exploring Hakodate for 2 days with my little cousin, the summer here is just so romantic! Goryokaku and Mount Hakodate are absolute must-visits🏯🌌

🚶♂️Itinerary:
Day 1:
📍Goryokaku Park (14-14 Goryokakucho, Hakodate)
This star-shaped fortress park is stunning! Open all day for free, we arrived at 9 AM when the sunlight was perfect for photos. Climbing the Goryokaku Tower offers a panoramic view of the star-shaped fort, but my cousin and I chose to stroll around the park and even caught some cherry blossoms, which, though fewer than in spring, were still beautiful🌸

Day 2:
📍Mount Hakodate Summit Observatory (19-7 Motomachi, Hakodate)
I recommend heading up the mountain by 4 PM so you can relax at the summit café while waiting for the night view. The night view from Mount Hakodate, known as the "Million Dollar Night View," is truly breathtaking! The observatory is open until 10 PM, and we stayed at the Cremona Hall for a long time, not wanting to leave✨

🍱Food Recommendations:
✅Lucky Pierrot Burger (right at the foot of Mount Hakodate)
✅Seafood rice bowl at Hakodate Morning Market
✅Soup curry specialty shop

🛏️Accommodation Suggestions:
Staying near Hakodate Station is most convenient. We stayed at a Japanese-style inn just a 10-minute walk from the Mount Hakodate Ropeway station.

📌Useful Tips:
1. The Mount Hakodate Ropeway can have long lines, so buy tickets in advance.
2. Renting a bike to tour around Goryokaku is also great.
3. Bring a light jacket even in summer; it gets cold at the summit at night.
4. It’s highly recommended to buy a Hakodate tram one-day pass; it’s super cost-effective.
