🇨🇳✨ Xitang – A Hidden Gem & Venice of the East ✨🇨🇳

Just back from Xitang, and honestly — what a magical place. If you’re ever in China and fancy a proper escape from the pace of city life, this ancient watertown is something else.

It’s got that real “Venice of the East” feel — narrow canals winding through old stone bridges and lantern-lit alleyways, with beautifully preserved classical Chinese architecture everywhere you look. But it’s not just about the photos — it’s about the atmosphere. Peaceful, romantic, and completely timeless.

One of my favourite moments was just sitting by the canal with a cup of tea from a little teahouse, watching the boats drift past and the town slowly coming to life. The pace of life there is just different — slower, more thoughtful, really calming.

And then comes nightfall — wow. When the lanterns flicker on and reflect in the water, it’s like walking through a dream. The nightscapes in Xitang are truly unforgettable — soft music playing from nearby cafés, red lanterns glowing overhead, and the whole town takes on this romantic, almost cinematic feel.

Whether you’re exploring the winding alleys, sipping tea by the water, or just soaking up the quiet charm — Xitang is an absolute gem. Classical, atmospheric, and one of the most romantic places I’ve ever been.
