1-Night, 2-Day Nature/History Course Linking Goryokaku & Onuma Quasi-National Park
This 1-night, 2-day itinerary begins at Goryokaku and takes in the breathtaking natural beauty of Onuma Quasi-National Park, the heart of southern Hokkaido. (220 words total)
• Day 1: Hakodate History and Night Views
• Morning: After arriving in Hakodate, take city transportation to Goryokaku Tower. After viewing the perfect star-shaped fortress from the observatory, tour the Hakodate Bugyosho within the park and learn about the history of Hokkaido at the end of the Edo period.
• Lunch: After a meal near Goryokaku, take the tram to the Bay Area.
• Afternoon: Enjoy the romantic harbor view at the Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse and stroll through the exotic hills and Western-style architecture of the Motomachi area. • Dinner and Night Views: After an early dinner, take the Mount Hakodate Ropeway to the summit and admire Hakodate's stunning nightscape, one of the world's three greatest night views. Rest at your accommodation in Hakodate City.
• Day 2: The Great Outdoors of Onuma
• Morning: Enjoy a breakfast of fresh seafood at the Hakodate Morning Market near Hakodate Station.
• Morning: Take the JR Hakodate Main Line to Onuma Park Station (approximately 30-40 minutes).
• Afternoon: Arrive at Onuma Quasi-National Park and rent a bicycle or take a cruise to explore the beautiful lakes and islands against the backdrop of Mount Komagatake. This is a place where you can experience Hokkaido's pristine nature with all your senses.
• Late Afternoon: After sampling Onuma's local specialties, such as dango (sweet dumplings) and other local snacks, return to Hakodate Station via the JR train to conclude the day.
