On the road: Xiangji Temple - the first incense temple on the Hangzhou Canal

In the Dadou Road Historical and Cultural District, first go to the Xiangji Temple, which is known as the "No. 1 Incense on the Grand Canal". The square in front of the temple is quite large, with the Xiangji Temple stone pagoda on the east side. The temple is a Tang and Song Dynasty style building, and the bronze color is quite extraordinary!

In front of the [Pushpin] mountain gate is a six-tusked white elephant guarding the temple. Between the Heavenly King Hall and the Great Hall of the Buddha is the [Sun] Great Kinnara King Hall, a unique feature of the temple. It highlights the vegetarian culture of "Heavenly Kitchen and Wonderful Offerings", which is unique in the country.

[Pushpin] Xiangji Temple is dedicated to the Great Sage Kinnara Bodhisattva and is the only temple in China that enshrines the Bodhisattva of Supervising Fasts. This is the biggest attraction! The literal meaning is the supervision of vegetarianism.

[Sun] Kinnara, meaning "God of Music" or "God of Song", is one of the Buddhist gods "Eighteen Devas". He is also called "non-human" because of the horns on his head. It turns out that behind the Buddha statue is a female image of Kinnara, holding a pipa, and now you can understand why she is called the "God of Music".

[Pushpin] The Three Buddhas and Eighteen Arhats enshrined in the Main Hall are vivid and exquisite!

[Two] It was first built in the third year of Taipingxingguo in the Northern Song Dynasty (978 AD) and was originally named Xingfu Temple. Later, Emperor Zhenzong of Song Dynasty gave it the name "Xiangji Temple". It was rebuilt and opened to the public on February 7, 2010.

[Three] The main deity is the Great Kinnara Bodhisattva. It is the only temple in China that enshrines the Bodhisattva of Supervising Fasting.

[Four] Xiangji Temple is based on the "Seven Halls System". Entering from the memorial archway, there are the Heavenly King Hall, the Great Sage Kinnara Hall, the Main Hall, and the Sutra Library. On both sides of the temple are the Guanyin Hall, the Manjusri Hall, the Samantabhadra Hall, the Bell and Drum Tower, and other buildings. There are 34 statues of various types.
