Hangzhou has always been synonymous with "mountain and water ancient rhyme". This time, my trip mainly revolves around the essence of the West Lake: starting with the West Lakeside food recommendation "Tianlunli", up to the legendary Leifeng Tower, then stroll in Wushan Tianfeng and Wushan Square - both beautiful and satisfying! Whether you like cultural tours or food lovers, you have found your little pleasure.

Recommended trips around West Lake in Hangzhou
📍First stop: Tianlunli (West Lake Branch)
It is located on the east of the 1st floor of Building 7, Xixi New Building, 550 Xixi Road, Xihu District, Hangzhou. This Jiangnan-style restaurant is very atmospheric. The wooden decoration is simple and elegant. We especially recommend the red sugar mochi, which is crispy on the outside and glutinous on the inside. The crab powder and tofu are rich and fragrant. The Jiangnan red pork melts in your mouth, especially with rice. Drunken crab and squid caviar mixed with rice are both authentic signature dishes. You can feel the taste of Jiangnan for dinner. Remember to book in advance, it's often quite crowded during regular meals.

📍Second stop: Thunder Peak Tower
Address: No. 15, Nanshan Road, Xihu District, Hangzhou
This tower is not only the symbol of West Lake, but also the story of the White Snake! The tower body is beautifully rebuilt, and you can take the elevator straight up to the top floor to see the entire West Lake in the distance. The interior is splendid and has many cultural relics exhibitions. If you want to learn more about the history of Hangzhou, you must not miss the Leifeng Pagoda.

It is recommended to leave immediately after breakfast to avoid the peak of crowds; before entering the tower, you can take a picture by the West Lake, which reflects the lake particularly poetically.

📍Third stop: Wushan Tianfeng
Address: No. 3, Wushan Road, Chenghuangshan, Shangcheng District, Hangzhou (South End of Yan'an Road)
Wushan Tianfeng is the most famous scene on Chenghuang Mountain, overlooking the city of Hangzhou and part of the West Lake; the mountain road is not too difficult to walk, the green shade along the road without all the smoke and fire in the city. Spring, summer and fall are great for slow walks, sometimes with musical events or teahouse naps. It takes about an hour or so to finish, enjoying the scenery while combing your mood.

📍Fourth stop: Wushan Plaza
Address: No. Yan'an Road, Shangcheng District, Hangzhou
Wushan Square has the most beautiful night view, walk over after dinner, surrounded by performances, stalls and small shops, whether it is for taking pictures or looking for snacks. Great for family or friends gatherings, a square, quite a few stories.

Trip tips & afterthoughts
1. Be sure to bring water to Lei Fung Tower. Although drinks are sold in the tower, the queue is quite exaggerated. Definitely choose comfortable sneakers, especially Leifeng Tower ~ Wushan Tianfeng along the road with stone slabs, occasional steps, do not see the beautiful scenery after your feet are tired!
2. There is an ancient teahouse at the top of Tianfeng Mountain in Wushan. It is recommended to try the West Lake Longjing. It is super healing to enjoy tea while looking at the scenery.
3. Wushan Square is crowded at night, belongings should be kept.

Transportation guide
Around the West Lake Scenic Area, you can take Metro Line 1 to Longxiang Bridge Station, then walk or share bicycles to the attractions. There are direct buses to Lei Fung Tower and Wushan Plaza, which is convenient and fast.

Food recommendations
In addition to Tian Lun Li, there are many snack stalls near Wushan Plaza. You might as well try scallion cake, Ding Sheng cake and bean curd.
