Lingyin Temple, a famous landmark in Hangzhou

Location: No. 1, Fayun Lane, Lingyin Road, Xihu District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province

Introduction: Lingyin Temple is located at the foot of Lingyin Mountain in West Lake, Hangzhou, with its back against Beigao Peak and its front facing Feilai Peak. Built in the third year of the Xianhe reign of the Eastern Jin Dynasty (328 AD), it is one of the renowned ancient temples in Jiangnan. During the Northern Song Dynasty, the magnificent Lingyin Temple was listed as the first of the Five Mountain Zen Temples and was also known as the "Yunlin Zen Temple." Legend has it that the temple's name originated from the early Xianhe reign of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. A West Indian monk named Huili, who traveled from the Central Plains to Zhejiang Province and arrived in Wulin (present-day Hangzhou), saw the breathtaking peaks and exclaimed, "This is a small ridge from the Vulture Peak in Central India. I wonder how it came here? When the Buddha was alive, many immortals retreated there. So, a temple was built in front of the peak and named Lingyin." The temple was later built and named Lingyin Temple. Later, Jigong became a monk here, making Lingyin Temple famous. The name "Feilai Peak," a rare ancient cave art treasure in Hangzhou, also comes from this location.

Opening Hours: 6:30 AM - 5:45 PM

Reviews: A visit to Lingyin Temple is a must when visiting Hangzhou. It's a truly special experience, and only at this time is it comfortable; visiting later would be more crowded. Lingyin Temple is also a well-known landmark in Hangzhou, so a must-see for anyone visiting Hangzhou.
