Watching Fish at Huagang, one of the Ten Scenic Spots of West Lake

Huagangguanyu is a scenic spot featuring flowers, harbor and fish. One of the ten scenic spots of West Lake. Located on the west side of the southern section of Su Causeway. After the completion of the second phase of expansion in 1964, the area reached 20 hectares. The whole area is divided into five scenic spots: Red Fish Pond, Peony Pond, Flower Harbor, Large Lawn and Dense Forest. It faces Leifeng Pagoda and Jingci Temple across Su Causeway.
The Red Fish Pond is located in the southern part of Yuanzhong and is the central area for sightseeing in this scenic area. The bank of the pond is naturally winding, with soil piled up in the middle of the pond to form an island and a curved bridge built over the pond. Leaning on the bridge railing and looking down, one can see thousands of golden-scaled red fish swimming in groups, splashing their wings and playing in the water.
