Old Town Hanoi

Hanoi is a bustling city in the north of Vietnam and it captures my heart each time I visit. This time, I primarily spent the days getting lost in the city’s old quarter. Here’s what i recommend for your next visit:
1️⃣ Train Street
Enjoy a coffee or food at one of the local vendors at Hanoi’s most iconic spot! At the entrance, a local vendor will take you to their store to enjoy a coffee or more! After that, you’re free to walk to another store. I recommend coming at night when the beautiful lights are on.
2️⃣ Take a Cooking Class
I love a cooking class and Hanoi did not disappoint. There are many to choose from but I went with ‘Apron Up Cooking Class’. The package included a trip to the market, a knowledgeable teacher, and lots of local food. It was pretty reasonable $30. As an added bonus, you’ll be given a recipe book and certificate at the end.
3️⃣ Street Food Walking Tour
Another favorite activity of mine especially if you want to meet fellow travelers. I went with ‘Crossing Vietnam Tour’ and it cost around $15! The tour starts and ends in Hanoi’s old quarter and includes around 9 tastings from Banh Mi to Pho!
4️⃣ Drink all the Coffee
If you’re visiting Hanoi you need to try the coffee. All of it! There are coffee stores on every corner selling all kinds of coffee. Many people recommend the famous egg coffee but I prefer the coconut coffee. Whatever you choose, I’m sure you’ll love the unique coffee flavors of Vietnam.
🏨 Where to stay: La Cascada House and Travel has big comfortable rooms, a balcony, and friendly staff. It’s in a good location but also tranquil.
🍲 Where to eat:
Bún chả Phô Cô - The best bún chả
Banh Mi 25 - My favorite Vietnamese sandwich
