Japan's proud World Heritage site, Itsukushima Shrine, is located on Miyajima in Hiroshima Prefecture. Itsukushima Shrine was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site (cultural heritage) in 1996 and already has a history of over 1,400 years. Its most distinctive feature is the large vermilion torii gate standing in the sea. The shrine grounds are located on a shallow beach, and at low tide you can walk to the large torii gate. There is a shopping street in the surrounding area, where you can enjoy the famous autumn leaves grilling.
It is recommended to climb Mt. Misen on a day with good weather and little wind. The view from the top is spectacular, and you can see the Seto Inland Sea, Shikoku Mountains, and more in one panoramic view. If you take the ropeway, the round trip fare for one adult is about 2,000 yen. However, there is no ropeway to the summit, so it is a good idea to hydrate while climbing. #Itsukushima Shrine #Miyajima Tourism #Mt. Misen #Lovers' Sanctuary
