Hiroshima Must-Visit: The Shrine on the Sea - Itsukushima Shrine

A day trip to Hiroshima's shrines is a journey filled with history and tranquility. The highlight of this trip is the famous Itsukushima Shrine and its surrounding attractions, which not only have a deep cultural heritage but are also full of natural beauty.

As you enter Itsukushima Shrine, the first thing that catches your eye is the red torii gate standing in the sea. During high tide, the torii appears to float on the water, changing from mysterious to magnificent with the shifting light and shadows. With the changing tides, I also approached the torii during low tide to closely observe this ancient structure. It is said that the torii symbolizes the sacred realm of Shinto, and standing in front of it, you can feel a sense of solemnity.

Walking inside the shrine, the traditional architectural style brings a sense of inner peace. Itsukushima Shrine is known for its wooden structure and simple yet elegant design, with each pillar and tile bearing the marks of history. Following the steps of worship, I washed my hands, bowed, and sincerely prayed for the health and safety of my family. Despite the crowds, everyone spoke softly, preserving the serene atmosphere of this sacred place.

On the nearby walking paths, you can also see many free-roaming deer, leisurely mingling with the visitors, adding a touch of playfulness and vitality. After the tour, I tasted the local specialty oyster dishes, whose fresh and juicy flavors are unforgettable. The day's itinerary not only broadened my horizons but also allowed me to experience the charm of Japanese shrine culture.

The Hiroshima shrine day trip left me with rich memories and a sense of fulfillment. Such a journey gave me a deeper understanding of Japan's traditional culture and the beauty of the fusion of nature and history.
