When you go to Hiroshima, you must visit one of the three scenic spots in Japan - Itsukushima Shrine
It is very convenient to get to Yanjima Shrine just take JR to Miyajimaguchi Station
Walk 5 minutes to take a boat to reach Miyajima
Walk along the road to Yanjima Shrine, where there are many grilled Hiroshima oyster shops. If you like Hiroshima oysters, you must buy them. Most shops are 500 yen for 2 pieces.
There are also many souvenir shops to visit, but most of them close at 17:00, so be aware of the time.
After that, you can go to Yanjima Shrine, and you should also pay attention to the high and receding tide times, because when the tide goes out you can walk down the sand to see the Torii gate of Nishima Shrine up close, which is really spectacular.
In addition, the pedestrian overpass is also open from 9:00-12:00 in the morning to view the torii gate up close.
Another location to view the torii is to enter the shrine for a fee of 300 yen and to view the torii from the front. But the distance is definitely farther than walking down the sand, so I prefer to enjoy the torii gate up close.
