The oldest temple among the temples located on Miyajima is Omotoyama Daisho-in of the Omuro Sect of the Shingon sect (headquarters Ninwaji Temple). After Kukai returned from the Tang Dynasty, he crossed to Miyajima to practice Buddhism in Mishan, and the foundation was established in 806 AD (the first year of Datong).
Closely related to the imperial family, it was a place of prayer ordered by Emperor Toba. It was also the place where Emperor Meiji stayed during his visits. It was even a high-profile temple where Hideyoshi held a tea party. #2024Travel Review
