| Sichuan's Ancient Town Gem. 1. Overview

• Location: Fubao Town, Hejiang County, Luzhou City, Sichuan Province, at the junction of the southern Sichuan, northern Guizhou, and southern Chongqing regions, on the banks of the Dacao River 📍

• History: Established in the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties, it was a key stop on the salt trade route from Zigong to Guizhou. It became a commercial hub in the Ming and Qing dynasties, and was the political, economic, and cultural center of the Dacao River basin.

• Features: Nestled in the mountains, the town's buildings are staggered and the streets are winding. It is known as the "essence of Chinese mountain dwellings" 🏘️

2. Main Attractions

• Huilong Street: The most complete ancient street in the town, it is 450 meters long and has five alleys. The street is lined with southern Sichuan-style Ming and Qing dynasty residences, with wooden buildings that are simple yet elegant.

• Xizi Pavilion: Built in the 55th year of the Qianlong era, it is a six-story, eight-sided structure modeled after the Bagua diagram. It is 8 meters tall and is used for burning paper money. Each side of each story has exquisite bas-reliefs.

• Three Palaces and Eight Temples: An important religious complex, including Qingyuan Palace. The temples are beautifully constructed and contain many artworks and carvings, providing insight into the town's religious culture.

• Viewing Platform: Located halfway up the mountain to the left of the town entrance, it is the best place to enjoy a panoramic view of the town and its unique charm.

3. Travel Tips

• Transportation: Driving from Luzhou takes about 2 hours. From Chongqing, you can take a bus from Caiyuanba or Chenjiaping Bus Station, which takes about 2.5 hours. The last bus back to Chongqing is at 2:30 pm.

• Accommodation: Guesthouses in the town range from a few dozen to over 100 yuan. If you have high accommodation standards, you can stay in Hejiang County, which also has more food options.

• Food: The cold water fish restaurant in the town offers large portions and delicious food. You can also try local specialties like tuotuorou and buckwheat baba.

• Notes: Be cautious of merchants overcharging tourists. The town's original appearance is great for photos. If you don't take photos, you can finish exploring in an hour, but if you do, take as long as you like.
