The China National Flower Garden is located on the ruins of the ancient Sui and Tang Dynasty city of Luonan. It stretches from Luoyang Bridge in the east to Mudan Bridge in the west, bordering Luoyi Road in the south and the south embankment of Luopu Park in the north. With a total planned area of 1,548 mu (approximately 2,500 meters long from east to west), it is currently the largest garden dedicated to peony viewing in China.
Established in September 2001, the China National Flower Garden is currently the largest garden dedicated to peony viewing in my country. Located on the ruins of a Sui and Tang Dynasty city on the south bank of the Luo River in Luoyang City, Henan Province, it stretches from Luolong Road in the east to Mudan Bridge in the west, borders Luoyi Road in the south, and is nestled against the Luo River in the north. It stretches 2,400 meters from east to west and 524 meters from north to south, covering an area of 1,548 mu. Embracing the historical culture of the Sui and Tang dynasties, and focusing on peony culture, the China National Flower Garden integrates historical and cultural heritage with landscape design, showcasing the beauty, purity, and tranquility of the peony, earning it the reputation of "China's First National Flower Garden."
From west to east, the park is divided into six scenic areas: the West Entrance Scenic Area, the Peony Culture Area, the Peony History and Culture Area, the Embankment Scenic Area, the East Entrance Scenic Area, and the Production and Management Area. Over 500,000 peonies of over 1,000 varieties, encompassing all nine color palettes, are planted, along with over 2 million trees, shrubs, and other plants of over 100 varieties. The plant-based layout creates a natural and flowing aesthetic, embodying the traditional imperial garden design style.
Boasting a temperate monsoon climate, the area, centered around peony culture, integrates history, peony culture, and garden landscapes. The vibrant peonies, a myriad of plant life, mountains cascading with lush greenery, pavilions of varying styles, rippling clear lakes, and ancient architecture offer boundless beauty and charm. It's an ideal spot for a spring outing to enjoy the blossoms.
Golden Peony Terrace
Legend has it that in ancient times there was a Peony Terrace, on the hilltop of which stood a golden peony tree, bearing thousands of blossoms. The golden peony tree was the key to wealth, its radiant gold and glittering beauty able to ward off illness and bring prosperity.

Luoyang peony poetry is not only the product of the perfect combination of poetry and flowers, but also a reflection and epitome of society. Peony literature began to appear in the Sui and Tang Dynasties, and Luoyang peony poetry matured and flourished in the Song Dynasty. From the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties to the present, the scope of reproduction of peony poetry has been further expanded.

Night visits are not available, and there are no regular light shows. Special tours or events may occur during peak flower seasons, but they are not typical.
