🌄 Visited Kirkjufell in early March⛰️ and the red-roofed church in Heidlissund🏰. It was a beautiful experience! The temperature is about -2°C to 3°C❄️.
Church Mountain is located on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, 463 meters above sea level. It is not a volcano, but an island peak from the Ice Age. The lava and sandstone are stacked, and the tuff on the top is shining. This is the filming location of "Game of Thrones"!
The Red-roofed Church of Heidlisand (Ingjaldshólskirkja) is located nearby. It was built in 1903. The red roof and white walls are super cute💖The red roof is an Icelandic tradition🏡. For example, Búðakirkja has a similar design, but there are also red-roofed churches in Northern Europe such as Norway🇳🇴 and Sweden🇸🇪. Iceland is more distinctive because of its natural background🌟
⏰ It is recommended to reserve 2-3 hours
🚗 The two places are about 1 hour’s drive away🚗
