Hengyang: A City Built on Manufacturing, Thriving on Culture and Tourism

🌟Highlights:
Hengyang, a city with a strong manufacturing base, has embarked on a path of cultural and tourism development in recent years. Several newly added commercial districts and attractions have become popular destinations. If you have some free time this weekend, Hengyang is worth a visit.

✅Must-try 1: Nanyueli Temple Fair Cultural and Food Street. This newly built national-style commercial pedestrian street in Hengshan County is a 5-minute drive from the foot of Hengshan Mountain. The entire street, less than 1 km long, is lined with Chinese-style ancient buildings, mainly featuring Hunan snacks. When the lights come on at night, it feels like traveling back to the Tang and Song dynasties. During major holidays, there are also performances featuring women in ancient costumes dancing on boats and firework shows.

✅Must-try 2: Baoweili Community. The Hengyang Railway Bureau holds a significant position in China's railway history. Here, you can find the former office of the Hengyang Railway Bureau, which is now the Hengyang Railway Museum. The surrounding streets have been renovated and now feature many colorful graffiti walls, creating a vibrant atmosphere. Former shops have been transformed into cafes and gift shops.

✅Must-try 3: Jianxiang Road. Jianxiang Road was once Hengyang's factory district. The community streets have been renovated, with new graffiti walls covering several residential buildings, giving the area a cyberpunk feel. You can visit the Jianxiang Industrial Art Museum, which was converted from an old factory building. Next door is the Jianxiang Canteen, which retains the industrial character of the area.

🍽Dining Recommendations:
1️⃣ Hengyang fish noodles are a local breakfast specialty. I personally recommend Xu Lai Ji Fish Noodle Shop. The fish soup is super fresh, but the fish has many bones, so be sure to chew slowly and carefully.
2️⃣ For lunch or dinner, Hengyang small stir-fries are a must-try. I recommend Wang Huo Huo Local Hunan Cuisine. The dishes are served quickly, and the wok hei is evident. The spicy and garlicky flavors will tantalize your taste buds.

👎Least Recommended: Shigu Academy. This is a landmark in Hengyang City and one of the four major academies in ancient times, rated as a 4A-level scenic spot. However, the academy is very small, and you can walk around it in 15 minutes. The river view is also quite ordinary. You can skip this if you have limited time.

🚉Transportation Guide: Hengyang City is not large, and the above attractions all have parking lots. If you don't have a car, you can take a taxi or rent a shared electric bike, which is more cost-effective.
