Located in Shiga Prefecture, which surrounds Japan's largest lake, 🌊Lake Biwa, Hikone is a very attractive small town. It's a quiet and quaint city with views of Lake Biwa.

Hikone is home to a mascot named 🐱Hikonyan, a cute cat that can be found hidden throughout the town, making it fun to spot this adorable character.

The most famous tourist attraction in Hikone is Hikone Castle, a designated national treasure with a keep that offers stunning views of Lake Biwa. On a clear day, you can enjoy panoramic views of the entire city of Hikone and the breathtaking Lake Biwa, which is so beautiful it might make you forget it's not the sea.

Since it's not a widely known destination, you can enjoy sightseeing in peace and quiet. The streets are also very clean and charming, making it a delightful place to explore.☺️
