Construction of the castle was planned by Tsugaru Tamenobu, the first lord of the Hirosaki domain. It was completed in 1611 (Keicho 16) during the reign of the second lord, Nobuhira.

Constructed during the Edo period, it is the only castle in the Tohoku region with a surviving castle tower.

The site is vast, measuring approximately 500 meters east to west and 1,000 meters north to south, with a total area of approximately 50 hectares.

The castle tower is not far from the castle, and various exhibits are displayed inside.
The view from the top is spectacular, with Mount Iwaki ⛰ being particularly beautiful!

The castle is surrounded by greenery and has been developed into Hirosaki Park. The city is also famous for its cherry blossoms, and the annual Hirosaki Cherry Blossom Festival is incredibly popular.
