Fujita Memorial Garden: A Fusion of Japanese and Western Styles in Hirosaki

Located near Hirosaki Park, the Fujita Memorial Garden was built during the Taisho era by Hirosaki entrepreneur Kenichi Fujita. Spanning an impressive 20,000 tsubo (approximately 66,000 square meters), it is one of the most iconic gardens in the Tohoku region. The garden is divided into two sections: the upper area features a Western-style mansion and garden, while the lower area showcases a Japanese-style strolling garden with a pond, embodying a harmonious blend of Japanese and Western aesthetics.

The Western-style mansion now serves as the "Taisho Romantic Tea Room," where visitors can enjoy apple desserts and coffee while admiring the garden views. The lower garden boasts a pond, small bridges, and pine trees, offering seasonal beauty: cherry blossoms in spring, lush greenery in summer, vibrant red maple leaves in autumn, and serene snow-covered landscapes in winter.
