Kudojiyama, located in the southwest of Hirosaki City, adjacent to Children's Forest, is a 663m-high rural mountain. It's about a 30-minute drive from downtown Hirosaki.
We parked in the Children's Forest parking lot and began our climb.
We entered a cedar forest immediately from the trailhead, and the air was cool and refreshing! The autumn foliage is also spectacular. 😀
The path is well-maintained, with wooden stairs and signs, so it's almost impossible to get lost.
⛩️ View of Kudoji Temple and the Summit
Just before the summit, we found ourselves at the magnificent Kudoji Temple.
The moss-covered stone steps and bell tower create a very atmospheric and tranquil space. As an ancient temple with ties to the Hirosaki domain, it exudes a sense of history.
After a short climb, we reached the summit. From the top, we were rewarded with a panoramic view of Mount Iwaki and the Tsugaru Plain, and I couldn't help but exclaim, "Wow!" Although it's a compact mountain, the view is a real treat.
The route up from the Children's Forest side is safe and easy for families to follow. It's an easy climb with great views, making it a popular hiking spot for local families and beginner hikers alike.
You can enjoy beautiful scenery throughout the seasons, with fresh greenery in spring and autumn leaves in autumn.
🏞️ Spectacular views of Mt. Iwaki and the Tsugaru Plain from the summit!
It takes about an hour and a half to leisurely walk to the peak.
Along the way, you can enjoy observing squirrels, wild birds, and wildflowers, making this a must-see for nature lovers.
From the peak, a spectacular view of Tsugaru Fuji and Mt. Iwaki unfolds before your eyes, providing a sense of openness that will make you want to take a deep breath.
After descending, you can have a picnic or play on the playground equipment in Children's Forest, making it a great place to spend the day with the kids.
