The Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Dome (Genbaku Dome) is a historic site located in the heart of Hiroshima City. It marks the vicinity of the hypocenter of the world's first atomic bomb, dropped on August 6, 1945, just about 160 meters away. Originally known as the "Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall," the building was hosting an exhibition at the time of the explosion. While the structure was almost entirely destroyed, the steel framework and dome remnants remained standing. Today, it has been preserved as a symbol of world peace and the abolition of nuclear weapons.
The Atomic Bomb Dome has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most significant war memorials globally. Visiting this site evokes a solemn atmosphere, prompting reflection on the devastation caused by war and the fragility of humanity.
Nearby attractions such as the "Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park" and the "Peace Memorial Museum" are also worth visiting to gain deeper insights into the history of that day and the subsequent recovery.
