✈️ 3D2N Ho Chi Minh City Getaway: A Perfect Short Escape for Office Workers

In October, I finally made my short vacation happen — a 3 days 2 nights trip to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam 🇻🇳.
As someone who works from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., this trip was my way to recharge and experience something new without taking too many days off. I’m so grateful that the plan worked out, and I’d love to share my journey with fellow travelers who are also balancing work and wanderlust!

🛬 Getting There

I took a flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.
I arrived around 10:30 a.m., but here’s a quick tip — be prepared for customs clearance that can take up to 1.5 hours, especially during peak hours. So don’t plan anything too tight right after landing!

🗓️ Day 1: City Strolls & Local Vibes

2:00 p.m. – Started my journey at Nguyen Hue Walking Street, the heart of the city with lively energy and street performances.
3:00 p.m. – Stopped by the Ho Chi Minh Statue and the City People’s Committee, two iconic landmarks.
3:30 p.m. – Visited the Saigon Central Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon — both classic French colonial buildings perfect for photos!
4:30 p.m. – Took a walk at Ben Thanh Market, great for souvenirs and local snacks.
6:00 p.m. – Wrapped up the day with dinner at Seven-Eleven Vietnam, a local spot with surprisingly good street-style dishes.

🚐 Day 2: Cu Chi Tunnels & Mekong Adventure (Group Tour)

7:00 a.m. – Departed from the city on a group tour.
9:30 a.m. – Arrived at the Cu Chi Tunnels, a fascinating glimpse into Vietnam’s war history.
If you’re feeling adventurous, try the shooting session (USD 60 per person for 10 bullets) — definitely an unforgettable experience.
12:30 p.m. – Lunch break before heading south.
4:00 p.m. – Reached Thoi Son Island in the Mekong Delta — a peaceful spot where you can enjoy boat rides and local fruits.
6:30 p.m. – Returned to Ho Chi Minh City.
8:30 p.m. – Took a relaxing evening walk again along Nguyen Hue Street, soaking in the night lights.

☕ Day 3: Morning Chill & City Farewell

7:00 a.m. – Went for a slow jog from Ben Chuong Duong Park to Ba Son Harbour Park, enjoying the morning breeze.
9:00 a.m. – Breakfast near Metro Ba Son, simple but satisfying.
10:00 a.m. – Treated myself to a Vietnamese egg coffee at Tiem Cafe Coc 169 — a must-try!
11:00 a.m. – Had an early lunch near my hotel.
1:00 p.m. – Visited the famous Pink Church (Tan Dinh Church) — vibrant and photogenic!
2:00 p.m. – Did some last-minute shopping in the city.
3:30 p.m. – Departed for the airport and said goodbye to Ho Chi Minh City ❤️

💡 Travel Tips

Be patient at immigration — queues can be long.

Always carry some Vietnamese Dong (VND); not all places accept cards

If you have extra time, explore local cafes — Vietnam’s coffee culture is amazing!
