Merry Christmas Ho Chi Minh City DAY4 French Construction Project

🐷Dad introduced French romantic architecture

Saigon Central Post Office (Vietnamese: Bưu điện trung tâm Sài Gòn/Post and Telecommunications Center Chai Wan), also known as Saigon Central Post Office, is located in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Built by France between 1886 and 1891, it was officially opened in 1892. The engineering architectural style is full of French flair, which matches the surrounding environment. This was the General Office of Posts and Telecommunications, as well as the first post office during the French colonial period. Up to now, the Post Office is one of the famous landmarks of Ho Chi Minh City, attracting many travelers.
The architect of the Saigon Central Post Office was Alfred Foulhoux, but there are also rumors that the architect was designed by Gustav Eiffel.

The interior of the post office is quite spacious, wrapping the drains in simple green iron strip trim. A large hanging portrait of Ho Chi Minh is placed in the center of the hall, with old maps of Vietnam on the walls flanking it, and a characteristic telephone booth under the old map. The two post offices have souvenir shops and cash machines.

The Opera House is located at the Ho Chi Minh Municipal Opera House on Liberty Road, formerly known as the Saigon Grand Theatre. It is also a legacy from the colonial period. According to old texts, French gentlemen and celebrities would enjoy a French dinner at the Hotel Continental nearby, and then go to the opera house to watch the brilliant performances of celebrities.
