Definitely a trip for the more adventurous traveler.
Inner Mongolia was an experience and a half. camping in the desert, riding horses, seeing ancient inner Mongolian rituals, and eating ALOT of Lamb.
Two cities to definitely check out would be Baotou and Hohhot. Baotou has a grassland park right in the center of the city and a lot of good hotpot restaurants. Hohhot is a little bigger with a large Muslim population. you can find great halal food in the area and see some Islamic inspired architecture. a lot of dried meats
🐎 Inner Mongolia is known for its horses and if you go visit the many grassland areas you might be able to catch a horse show or even ride one yourself
🍲 The food is amazing. abundant in lamb and milk products, it might be alittle hard to find vegetarian options, but they do exists.
🐫 The grasslands are amazing. you get to sleep in a yurt and see the night sky and all the stars without any glare from city light.
👘 Classical Mongolian Dancing is also a must see. Very well choreographed dance moves combined with balancing objects on their heads, the dancers make it look easy. but it probably took a long time to master. 🙂
Getting There - Plane and rented keep to the grasslands
Attractions - Horse show, Grasslands, Traditional Mongolian Dancing
Hotels - Grassland Yurt
Food & Restaurants - Lamb Hotpot, Milk Tea, Lamb BBQ
