The Thu Bon River, with a basin area of 10,350km2, is one of the largest inland rivers in Vietnam. The river originates from the Ngoc Linh mountain range in the Dak Glei district of Kon Tum province and flows to the Cua Dai sea in Hoi An city, Quang Nam province.
The Thu Bon River in Hoi An is the largest river in the Khanh Nam Danang region of Vietnam. The Thu Bon River in Hoi An is also famously known among Vietnamese people by another name, 'Kuadai'.
The river plays a significant role in the traditional and historical heritage of the Hoi An village. The fishing village of Hoi An, now popular, was once a sought-after international trade destination, with many merchant ships from China and other countries conveniently making port calls. This was primarily due to the simple reason that the Thu Bon River in Hoi An flows into the South China Sea.
