Strolling through Hội A feels like stepping into a fairytale 🏮🌙—ancient yellow walls, hanging lanterns, quiet alleyways, and a gentle river breeze. Here are a few things I learned that’ll help you make the most of your trip:
💡 TRAVEL TIPS
• Avoid: Rainy season (October–December) – flooding is common.
• Tip: Plan to stay 2–3 nights to fully enjoy the day & night vibes.
🚶♀️ Getting Around
• Old Town is pedestrian-friendly – cars & motorbikes are restricted during the evening (great for photos!).
• Bicycle rental is common (about 20,000–40,000 VND/day).
• Many hotels offer free bicycles – just ask!
🎟️ Entrance Ticket
• Hoi An Old Town has a ticket system (~120,000 VND) that gives access to:
• 5 sites (choose from temples, old houses, museums, etc.)
• The ticket helps with heritage preservation. You don’t need it to walk around, but it’s checked at attractions.
🍽️ Must-eat foods
• Cao Lầu – chewy noodles you can only find here
• Bánh mì – go for Phượng or Madam Khanh
• White rose dumplings – light, delicate, and local
🛍️ What to do
• Custom tailoring (yes, suits & dresses in 24h!)
• Night market for souvenirs and street snacks
• Visit the Japanese Covered Bridge, assembly halls, and Thu Bồn riverfront
💡 Extra Tips
• Bring cash – many stalls and tailors don’t take cards.
• Mosquito repellent is useful in the evening.
• Dress modestly when entering temples or historic houses.
