What a spectacular way to usher in the year of the rabbit! Any trip to Da Nang is incomplete without a visit to Hoi An. Hoi An is a small city south of Da Nang, about a 45 min drive. It is extremely famous for its rich Chinese-influenced food and culture, and it's most evident in the ancient town.
Hoi An Old Town is a preserved trading port dating from as far back as the 15th century, and many buildings and bridges still stand today. The Chinese influence is strong, so visiting this place at the peak of the Lunar New Year is fantastic. At night, the beautiful, colorful lanterns light up the walking streets, while cafes and handcraft stores line the cobbled streets. It almost feels as if you're transported back in time, but the atmosphere is so pleasant that one cannot help but feel inspired by the beauty and history of the place!
Tips for visiting Hoi An Old Town
1. Prepare walking shoes, some streets do not allow vehicles.
2. Visit in the late afternoon to watch the lanterns come to life during sunset!
3. Try the local food, especially the bbq.
