🇭🇰Hong Kong|Spectacular view of the border at dusk. Check-in at Nanwuzai, Ma Caolong

The border often gives people a sense of mystery, but in fact, Ma Tso Lung, which is only a 10-minute drive from Lok Ma Chau, is no longer a restricted area. The six villages in the area, such as Xinyi New Village and Machaolong New Village, were unblocked as early as 2013. Now people can enter and exit freely, and they are also popular sunset photography spots and check-in attractions!

The appearance of Nam Wu Tsai Store is very cute, and the outer walls are painted with the natural scenery of Ma Cao Long, and the brushstrokes are very delicate! Plus, there aren't many tall buildings around, making it very similar to Taiwan's mural village.

The food style of Nanwuzai Store is all Hong Kong style. This time I decided to try the French toast recommended by most netizens, while my friend ordered fish and chips. Both are large and affordable!

The small paths beside the Nam Wu Tsai store are great places for taking photos. In addition to enjoying the countryside scenery, you can also take photos of the Shenzhen city view behind. So don’t leave in a hurry after enjoying the food, otherwise you will miss this photo-taking spot!

Afterwards, we walked along Ma Tso Lung Road, passed Xinyi Village, and then turned into Liao Pok Road to Ma Tso Lung Police Post to watch the sunset. The whole journey only took about 20 minutes.

Follow the map to the location of the Macaolong Police Post, where you will see this long ladder. Just walk up and follow the path!

After that, the scenery will suddenly become clear. From this location, you can enjoy the view of the fishing ponds on the border and the city view of Futian Port. At the same time, because it faces northwest, it is also a popular spot for photography enthusiasts to take pictures of the sunset! However, this location is quite sloping and the road is all gravel, so everyone must be careful!

After taking photos, everyone can go down the mountain to Xinyi New Village and take a minibus back to Sheung Shui MTR Station. However, there may be more people queuing after sunset on weekends. If you are traveling with a group, you can consider taking a taxi, which only costs about $80-100 to Sheung Shui MTR Station.

📍Sheung Shui Ma Tso Lung
Take minibus 51B from Sheung Shui Station and get off at Xinyi New Village.
