I visited the Tai Kok Tsui store of "That ㄋㄚˋ ㄍㄜ" many years ago, and have always been obsessed with their traditional Tainan set meals. I know they recently opened a branch in Tseung Kwan O, so I took the opportunity to try it when visiting friends. The decoration still follows the Taiwanese style of soft wood. I especially like their long octagonal table and walnut tray, which are very textured.

Not every Taiwanese restaurant uses beef tendon, after all, the cooking temperature must be properly controlled and the cost is relatively high. The beef tendon here is very delicious, the meat is tender and tasty, and it goes really well with the flat fresh Guanmiao noodles. It’s delicious!

The older generation of Tainan people think that sugar is a very precious thing and believe that adding sugar to food is a sign of respect for guests. "Sugar is used in cooking", so authentic Tainan dishes tend to have a sweet taste. But the dishes here have been adjusted a bit, and they are all sweet and tasty. They retain the characteristics of Tainan while integrating the tastes of Hong Kong people. Great!
