I love the Lion Room Cuisine at the Royal Plaza Hotel, not only because you can leisurely enjoy your meal under Lion Rock, but also because it often surprises me, like this edition's Little Prince afternoon tea.
The exquisitely crafted Little Prince's Wonderful Journey Afternoon Tea features tableware shaped like a painter’s palette, paired with colorful delicacies. Whether you’re a fan of the Little Prince or not, you’re sure to love it.
This afternoon tea set includes four savory items and five sweets. Starting with the savory, avocado is a healthy ingredient that everyone tends to like. Here, avocado is made into a puree, placed on a crispy rice cracker, and garnished with crab meat, creating a rich texture that’s both healthy and delicious.
The crispy fried potato balls mixed with Parma ham and cheese sit on a bed of herbed tomato sauce—a subtle combination. The contrast of the crispy exterior and soft interior, along with the savory flavor, easily won me over.
The smoked salmon mousse tart is already delicious on its own, but the addition of black fish roe makes it feel extra luxurious. A savory treat that moves the heart.
At first glance, the duck liver pâté crisp with red raspberry jelly looked like a dessert. As a pâté lover, I had no resistance to this.
Several sweets are also colorful. For example, the classic madeleine cake is coated in a golden shell, instantly making it much more striking.
The B612 planet is actually a blueberry cheesecake white chocolate mousse cake. It’s not overly sweet, with blueberry sauce and blueberry cheese creating a pleasantly surprising sweet and savory contrast.
The book on the clouds is actually a vanilla orange mousse cake. I especially love how the orange aroma balances the whole thing, giving it a refreshing feel.
The red raspberry opera cake is shaped like a small suitcase. Since it’s called Opera, there’s no doubt it’s rich in layers.
The final appearance is a fairy-like rose, which is actually a cherry pistachio mousse cake. It’s silky smooth with a tangy flavor. Unexpectedly, besides being beautiful, it’s my favorite flavor among all the desserts.
The two drinks are called The Rose and The Adventure. The former actually features a rose ice cube that steals the show, with a floral-scented lactic acid drink that’s wonderful.
The Adventure is a sweet orange jasmine soda, like the Little Prince happily meeting the rose, evoking the feeling of blue skies, white clouds, and a bright sunny day.
Leisurely enjoying such a wonderful Little Prince afternoon tea feels especially dreamy~
